OUGD503 - Studio Brief 1: Competition Brief 6: Charlie & Reed

I was searching through 99designs for a quick brief and came across this brief for 'Charlie & Reed', a food product company who want a packaging label designing.
The brief isn't very detailed or long, so there's not much to go off. They did give 7 images which they like the design of:
My initial impression from what they've said is that they want something quite simple and lasting which is stylish. From the examples given it is clear they prefer a serif typeface and something that is typography and is all one colour.
I decided on using white text on a black label, using a serif font for the brand name and a sans serif for all the details.
I think it works well as a label and the combination of typefaces works well. The typefaces sit well on the colour and the simple composition is a strong point. It is a label which could be applied to anything and still look contemporary.

I then mocked this up onto a jam jar for context.
In terms of a label for the boxes, I made a variation of the label which didn't have the weight details on. I made everything a bit larger to utilise the space left.
I then mocked this up onto a box front as an example.

After completing these four designs I entered the two variations and the artwork for the jar label as this is the main label.
As of the minute the contest has been put on hold by the contest holder so I don't know the final outcome of my submission.
