OUGD505 - Studio Brief 1: An Introduction To Air Jordan (5)

Today I started inputting the content to each page.

I started with 'The Air Jordan Range' spread as I had the content on this first.
Initially I think it works quite well and fits around the images well, with the exception of the coloured text. Obviously I would prefer for the words to be full on every line, and I haven't got enough text to fit the box, so I need to adapt the layout to stop this showing.
I decided to change the shape of the red text, making it more landscape instead of portrait. This works with the words a lot better and the layout works well.

I then moved onto the rest of the pages, adding the content to the larger text boxes.
I then went back to the Air Jordan Range briefly. I realised it was quite hard to read the red text over the red image still. Whether this would be an issue when it is printed I don't know yet, but right now in screen it's not that readable.
To try fix this a bit I shifted the box over to the right in accordance to my grid.
This definitely looks a bit better, but whether this is how I will keep it I don't know yet.
Moving onto the rest of the layouts, I continued to put the text into the large text boxes.
Once I had completed this I moved onto adding the body text to the pages I had content for, trying to make it as close a possible to the frames I have designed for.
It is obvious from the above that there are some pages which don't have enough body text to fill the assigned space, so I will need to work around this to make the layouts work.

However before doing this I played with the idea of making the image lighter on the pages so the red text definitely would show over the top. While doing this, I also gathered together the rest of the content and put it into the pages, which changes made to the layout to accommodate the amount of body copy.
Again I tried the idea of not having frames around the larger text.
Although I liked this on some of the pages, it didn't work well on all of them so having the frames is key to the structure. Because of this I tried the idea of having some pages with the frame and others without, just to see how it would work.
This works ok, but because of the fact that there's nothing distinguishing the two types from each other, if I wanted to do it this way I needed to have a design reason to.
I then tried the idea of having the text without a frame at a larger point size.
I do like how this is looking now, however my issue is with the spreads which have both the larger red text and the smaller red text. Having both looks a bit odd, so this is something I need to try make work.
I tried the idea of having the text with a frame in black instead of red, so it is different in point size and colour from the red text, giving it its own identity on the page and meaning I can use both on the page.
I decided that this was the solution to the problem and I am very happy with how the publication is looking at this point.
I moved back onto the front cover and contents page of the publication. Initially I had text on the front cover, however I didn't really want to as I like just the logo on the coloured paper.
I then decided that instead of having a contents page I could just have an introductory page with the title on. This way I don't have to compromise the design of the front page. Also the idea of a contents page isn't necessarily needed considering the publication is only sixteen pages long.
Once I was happy with the publication I saved it and turned it into a PDF.
